a rainbow farm shop haul, sizzled wedges of squash a rainbow farm shop haul, sizzled wedges of squash with sage + feta, @joe_woodhouse’s perfect sweet potatoes & creamy white beans, the making of a cinnamon-spiced apple cake, soothingly tender spätzle cabbage soup, slow beans on toast, lacinato kale with leeks + borlotti, crisp watermelon radish (and even crisper apples), more tomato soup (see last post!!), the classic comforting combo of cabbage + beans, and more… feat. the very best two-day tiramisù ☕️🍂 love the season you’re in!
what to do with big, gorgeous heritage tomatoes th what to do with big, gorgeous heritage tomatoes that never fully got to ripen before summer’s sun faded into autumn’s dusk? why, slow-roast them with garlic, whizz them into soup, and serve them with chunky & cheesy basil toasties, of course!! nothing better to savour the last season all while nestling into the novel chill of the cosy months ahead 🍅😌🍂🧶 ate the toasties first, dunked into the soup as with a sauce, then simply relished the rest, as one does, with a spoon (just as the golden october sun began its evening retreat!) — everything about this was so so good, it really was such a treat 🥹💛

brown butter sage fried eggs + crispy capers! perf brown butter sage fried eggs + crispy capers! perfect for a gloomy early autumn (or late spring!) morning — or any day that requires a little bit of extra comfort, really 🌥️🫶⁣ ⁣ melt some butter in a pan, then add in fresh sage leaves and leave to fry until they stop sizzling (throw some capers in too, if you’d like). remove the sage and optional capers from the pan, then transfer them to a plate lined with paper towel so as to absorb any excess fat. once the butter in the pan has gone nutty brown, top it up generously with olive oil to stop it from burning and turn the heat up. when the fat is shimmering hot, crack in your eggs (careful, things’ll crackle and pop!). cook until the edges are crisp and lacy, basting the whites with fat to cook them quickly, all while avoiding the yolks if you want those to stay nice and runny. grab some toast (no need for butter), top with a fried egg or two, then garnish with fried sage leaves and crispy capers & season to taste. truly a satisfying balm for the soul 😌💛
